22日、バルセロナテスト中にマクラーレンのフェルナンド・アロンソがクラッシュを喫し、病院に搬送された。その後、幸いけががないことが発表されたが、仲間たちからたくさんのメッセージが寄せられている。
アロンソは22日昼頃、21周目を走行中に長い高速コーナー、ターン3の出口でコース内側のウォールにヒットした。
救急車によりメディカルセンターに搬送されたアロンソは意識があり医師と話ができる状態だったと伝えられたが、その後ヘリコプターで病院へと移送された。
病院で予防措置としてCTスキャンおよびMRIスキャンを受けた結果、アロンソにけががないことが分かったものの、衝突の際に脳震盪を起こしたため、用心のためこの日は入院することとなった。
アロンソが昨年まで所属していたフェラーリはクラッシュ直後にTwitterでいち早く応援メッセージを送った。
また、アロンソがクラッシュした際にすぐ後ろを走っていたとされるベッテルは「なによりもまず、フェルナンドが早く回復することを願っている。幸いすでにいくつかいいニュースが入ってきているから、来週のテストに元気に戻って来てくれることを期待している」というコメントを発表した。
他にもアロンソに対して友人たちからたくさんの言葉が送られている。
