2016年F1の唯一の公式ライセンスゲーム『F1 2016』のモバイル端末版とApple TV版がリリースされることが、開発元から発表された。

『F1 2016』はコードマスターズ社が開発を手掛けるF1唯一の公式ライセンスゲーム最新作で、10年間のキャリアモードなどが特徴となっている。日本では9月8日（木）に、Xbox One版、PlayStation 4版が発売された。

　7日、コードマスターズ社は、『F1 2016』のiOS版、tvOS版、Android版をリリースすると発表した。

　メインバージョンからどれだけの機能がモバイルバージョンに移植されるかはまだ明らかになっていないが、コードマスターズ社は「どこでもコンソールのクオリティを楽しめる」と語っている。

　現在明らかになっている唯一の情報は、リリース日が“今年の秋”であり、2016年シーズンの全ドライバー、チーム、そしてサーキットを利用できるということである。

　コードマスターズ社はこのゲームが“有料アプリ”であり、iOSとAndroid端末で利用可能だと認めている。しかし、アプリ内購入があるかどうかについては言及していない。

　最近の公認F1モバイルゲームには、マリオカートに似た『F1 RACE STARS』、ミニゲームが中心で、同時にコース上に並べるのは12台のみの『F1 Challenge』があり、どちらも2012年シーズン仕様である。
